Summary: The Government has launched a new scheme namely “Financial Support to MSMEs in ZED Certification Scheme”. the ZED model aims to achieve high quality manufacturing that’s also green. While India putting efforts to become global manufacturing hub, the ZED model is necessary to take forward the efforts.

The MSMEs are provided financial assistance for the activities to be carried out for ZED certification i.e., Assessment / Rating, Additional rating for Defence angle, Gap Analysis, Handholding, Consultancy for improving the rating of MSMEs by Consultants and Re-Assessment / Re-Rating.

Zero Defect Zero Impact Scheme 2022 is for the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) sector to enhance the quality of products matching the global standards.

Zero Defect Zero Effect Scheme Online Registration Process

The slogan “Zero Defect Zero Effect” was given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it signifies two things:

  • Production mechanisms wherein products have no defects
  • Production process which has zero adverse environmental and ecological effects.

As per the application Annexure-3 in the scheme guidelines at www.dcmsme.gov.in apply to NMIU/Concerned MSME-DIs for participating under the scheme for availing the benefits. MSMEs may register free of cost.

All Eligible Applicants who want to apply to this scheme then read all instructions carefully and follow the given below steps to apply online application form:

Procedure to Apply Online Zero Defect Zero Effect Scheme Application Form 2022

Step 1- Visit the Official Website of Zero Defect Zero Effect Scheme i.e. zed.org.in.

Step 2- On the Homepage, click on register now option. The link will redirect to the registration page.

Step 3- The registration Form page will be displayed on the screen.

Step 4- Now, enter the email Address and Mobile Number after that click on verify option.

Step 5- OTP will be sent to the entered mobile number. Please enter the OTP for validation.

Step 6- The MSME registration page will be displayed. Provide the following details for registration:

  • Name of Entrepreneur
  • Social Category
  • Any special category of Entrepreneur:
  • Name of Enterprise: 
  • Date of Commencement of Enterprise 
  • UAM/EM 2/SSI Registration Number
  • Contact Information
  • National Industry Classification (NIC) Code
  • Category of the unit as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPC)

The applicant also uses this application to get the ZED Id.

Get ZED ID

  • The Applicant needs to click on the submit button to register.
  • After the registration, an email will be sent to the registered email address;
  • it will contain the ZED ID and a Password.
  • Using these credentials, the Applicant can then proceed to Online Self-Assessment.

Online Self Assessment

  • From the home page, select the self-assessment option.
  • In the new page, provide the ZED ID and password for login.
  • Using the online self-assessment, the applicant can know their manufacturing unit’s present status of systems and processes on the ZED scale.

Desktop Assessment

  • From the home page, select the desktop assessment option.
  • In the new page, provide the ZED ID and password for login.

The Desktop Assessment process will be evaluated by the online self-assessment exercise undertaken by the applicant MSME.

  • Payment of relevant fee Rs. 10,000 by the applicant MSME
  • Submission of relevant evidence as advised in the self-assessment stage
  • Evaluation by the desktop assessors of the self-assessment vis evidence submitted.

Zed Rating

  • After the assessments and evaluation, the final rating is provided to the MSME which is valid for four years.

Get OTHER Certificate

  • QCI will award the ZED certification to the respective companies as per the site assessment conducted.

Zero Defect Zero Effect Scheme 2022: ZED Certification Scheme Online Application Form PDF Download – The ZED or Zero Defect Zero Effect scheme is a new initiative launched by the Narendra Modi-led central government. The ZED scheme envisages ZED assessment for promotion and certification of Zero Defect and Zero Impact (ZED) manufacturing among MSMEs. 

Under the scheme 22,222 MSMEs will be rated & certified under ZED Maturity Assessment Model, 5,000 MSMEs will be rated & certified under the ZED Defence Model, 7368 MSMEs will be supported for Gap Analysis, Handholding, Consultancy for improving their rating, etc.

Zero Defect Zero Effect Scheme Eligibility Criteria

Beneficiary Eligibility Guidelines:

  • The Scheme is open to all Micro, Small and Medium Manufacturing Enterprises throughout the country.
  • The units should be registered with Ministry of MSME (Udyog Adhar Memorandum), DIC (EM-II) or with any other agency (Industry Association and Govt agency).
  • Under the scheme, the MSME companies which follows the guidelines and meet the standards set by the ZED will be awarded ZED certification along with several benefits.

Objectives of Zero Defect Zero Effect Scheme 2022

The objective of the scheme for promotion of Zero Defect and Zero Effect (ZED) manufacturing amongst micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and ZED Assessment for their certification so as to:

  • Develop an Ecosystem for Zero Defect Manufacturing in MSMEs.
  • Promote adaptation of Quality tools/systems and Energy Efficient manufacturing.
  • Enable MSMEs for manufacturing of quality products.
  • Encourage MSMEs to constantly upgrade their quality standards in products and processes.
  • Drive manufacturing with adoption of Zero Defect production processes and without impacting the environment.
  • Support ‘Make in India’ campaign.
  • Develop professionals in the area of ZED manufacturing and certification.

Benefits & Key Features of ZED Certification Scheme

  • ZED or Zero Defect Zero Effect scheme is a new initiative launched by the Narendra Modi led central government.
  • ZED scheme envisages promotion of Zero Defect and Zero Effect (ZED) manufacturing amongst MSMEs and ZED Assessment for their certification.
  • The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India has introduced the Financial Support to MSMEs in ZED Certification Scheme for the benefit of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
  • There are 50 parameters for ZED rating and additional 25 parameters for ZED Defence rating under ZED Maturity Assessment Model.
  • The total cost of the project is Rs. 491.00 crores (Government contribution Rs 365.00 crores, beneficiary MSMEs contribution Rs 126.00 crores).
  • The subsidy provided by the Government of India for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises will be 80%, 60% and 50% respectively.
