Increase in the amount of pension under the UP Pension Scheme

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji has decided to increase the amount of pension for destitute women, old and disabled citizens provided under the UP Pension Scheme on 17 December 2021 . Now all destitute women, old and disabled citizens will be given a pension of ₹ 1000 every month instead of ₹ 500. Apart from this, a monthly allowance of ₹ 500 will also be provided to the laborers for the next 4 months. A pension of Rs 3000 per month will also be provided for the leprosy affected people. Around 30.34 lakh destitute women are getting pension through UP Pension Scheme. Earlier the amount of this pension was ₹ 300, which was increased to ₹ 500 by the Uttar Pradesh government. Recently this amount has been increased to ₹ 1000.

Earlier no family was covered under the old age pension scheme. Before 2017 about 37 lakh citizens were getting the benefit of old age pension scheme. This number has now increased to 55.77 lakh. Apart from this, about 8 lakh disabled citizens will also be able to get pension. Along with pension to the leprosy affected citizens, their families will also be provided housing through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Apart from this, an additional amount of ₹ 500000 will also be provided for the treatment of women under the Ayushman Bharat scheme for incurable diseases.

56 lakh citizens will be provided the benefit of old age pension scheme

As you all know , under the UP Pension Scheme , a pension of ₹ 500 per month is provided by the government to the poor old citizens of the age of 60 years or more. This pension will soon be given to 56 lakh elderly people of the state by the Uttar Pradesh government. This year 5 lakh new elders have also been linked to this scheme by the government. After adding which this scheme has become the biggest pension scheme till date . Pension distribution under this scheme is done by the Social Welfare Department. The department has sought time from the Chief Minister to do the distribution programme. As soon as possible, all the new beneficiaries will also be linked to this scheme and they will be given acceptance certificate. After which the pension will be distributed in their account.

Recovery will be done from ineligible citizens

Pension was provided to 51.21 lakh elderly people in March this year. In the year 2017, this pension was provided to 36 lakh elderly people. Which means that in the last 5 years, 20 lakh elderly people have been linked to this scheme by the government. Recently, all the old age pension scheme beneficiaries have been verified by the government. In which it has been found that there were about 2.5 lakh such beneficiaries who had died and 55000 such beneficiaries who are ineligible. Action will be taken to recover pension from all these citizens. This verification work is done every year by the Social Welfare Department. This verification is done through the District Magistrate.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji has told through video conference that on Wednesday , under the Uttar Pradesh Pension Scheme , 86.95 lakh old people, widows, disabled and leprosy beneficiaries of the state will get their pension for three months i.e. July, August, September. transferred by the government. So that all these old people, widows, Divyangjan and leprosy can lead their life well, this is a very good effort of the state government. Old people, widows, disabled people and leprosy will no longer be deprived of government schemes. They will also be provided the benefits of all government schemes being launched by the government. The Chief Minister says that efforts will be made to provide benefits of the government scheme to all the differently-abled and destitute from villages to urban areas.
