The Government of India provides scholarships to all those students who are not able to finance their education. For this purpose, the government has launched a National Scholarship Portal. Through this article, we are going to tell you all the important information regarding the National scholarship portal like what is the National Scholarship Portal? its objective, benefits, features, eligibility criteria, application procedure, etc. So if you are interested to grab every single detail regarding the National scholarship portal then you are requested to read this article very carefully till the end.
National Scholarship Scheme- NSP
Through the National scholarship portal, the students can apply for various scholarship schemes offered by the central and state government. This portal has been launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology, Government of India. Through this portal, the beneficiaries can even check their application status. If you want to get a scholarship offered by the government then you have to apply online on the National Scholarship Portal by following the procedure given by us. Fresh applications are also being accepted from 21st August 2020. The students are now not required to visit government offices in order to apply for scholarships. They just have to go to the official website and apply for a scholarship.
National scholarship Last Date Extended
To encourage education the government provides scholarships to all eligible students. This scholarship is provided every year. For the year 2021, the last date to apply for a scholarship has been extended by the government. The higher education director of the state has issued a notification to all the schools, colleges, universities. In this notification, he has asked all the educational institutions to ensure that all the eligible students apply for the scholarship before the last date. All the school students for level 1.1 and level 1.2 can apply for scholarships till 31st December 2020. The last date of the first phase verification is 31st January 2021 and the last date of 2nd phase verification is 28 February 2021. All the minority students who wish to apply for the scholarship on pre metric, post matriculation, and merit basis will have to apply before 31st December 2020

UGC- Schemes (University Grant Commission)
University Grants Commission (UGC) is the Apex body for the higher education system in India. University Grants Commission is also hosting some of its scholarshipson the national scholarship portal. These scholarships will provide financial support to the students of college and university. The application procedure for NSP UGC Scholarship has started and the last date to apply for the scholarship is 5th February 2021 (Extended). You are required to read this article to grab all the information regarding the NSP UGC scholarship 2022.
UGC Scholarship Application Deadline Extended
UGC has extended the deadline of the online application procedure for the scholarship. All those students who have still not applied or renewed their application can be able to do so. The last date to apply for a UGC scholarship on the national scholarship portal is 20 January 2021 and the last date for the student verification by the institute has also been extended. Now the new date for verification is 5 February 2021. The application process on the national scholarship portal has started on 1st September 2020. For Indira Gandhi PG scholarship for the single girl child, university rank holder PG scholarship, Northeastern region Ishan Uday special scheme, SC/ ST professional course PG scheme applications are still open. All the students who are interested to get a scholarship are required to fill the application form as soon as possible.

Eligibility Criteria For Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme
The applicant must belong to domiciles of North Eastern states including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland ( for Ishan Uday special scholarship scheme only)
The applicant must be single girl child in the family (twin daughters can also apply) (only for PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for single girl child)
An applicant’s age should be less than 30 years
The family income of the applicant must be less than 4.5 lakh
The applicant must have taken admission in the first year of any degree course(Ishan Uday scholarship). The applicant must have taken admission in the first year of the regular master degree program (PG Indira Gandhi scholarship)
Eligibility Criteria For PG Scholarship For University Rank Holders
The applicant must be a rank holder in their graduation exam (for PG scholarship for university rank holders)
The applicant must belong to SC/ST category (for PG scholarship scheme for SC/ST students)
An applicant must be pursuing the first year of post-graduation studies
The applicant must have secured 60% marks in graduation (for PG scholarship for university rank holders)
The maximum age limit of the applicant is 30 years

Fill in the asked details i.e State of Domicile, Name of the student, Date of Birth, Community/ Category, Father’s Name, Aadhaar card Number, Mobile Number, Scholarship Category, Gender, Religion, Mother’s Name, Annual Family Income, Email ID etc.
Click on “Save & Continue”, next page appeared.
Upload the scanned copies of the documents.
Click on “Final Submission’’
Thus, Application have to finally submit.
National Scholarship Application Status2021-22
First of all, go to the official website of the national scholarship portal
The home page will open in front of you
On the home page, you need to click on the login link and select your year
Now you have to enter your application ID and password
After that, you have to click on check your status
The application status will be on your screen
Procedure to check Scheme Wise Scholarship Sanctioned List
Enter the details such as Domicile State/UT, Course Level, Religion, Caste/Community Category, Gender, Parent Annual Income, Whether Disabled and captcha code
Click the “check eligibility” option
Registration Procedure of National Scholarship Portal
Login: Now a login form will be open in front of you where you have to:-
Select academic year
Enter user ID
Now Enter password
Enter captcha code
Click to login into the NSP profile
Now a dialogue box will appear on your screen which will ask you to click on the ok option. You need to click on the ok option.
Registration form: Now a registration formwill be open in front of you.
On the registration form, first of all, you have to upload the identity proof of the institute’s Nodal officer. For this purpose, you need to click on choose file and select the image. Keep in mind that the image should be in PDF or JPEG format and not more than 200 KB in size. After that, you need to click on upload identity proof.
Now you need to enter all the required details in the registration form like:

Details of designated Institute Nodal officer for NSP
OTP: An OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number of the Nodal officer of the Institute. You need to enter the OTP in the OTP box and fill all other relevant information
You need to fill in all this information very carefully and before finally submitting the form you have to save the entered information by clicking the save form option after that you need to click on the final submit
Reference ID: After finally submitting the form a reference ID will be generated and the form will be transferred to district Nodal officer
Print Out: You need to take the printout of this form and submit it to the district Nodal officer. The form should be duly signed and stamped.
Update Profile Of The Institute
If the registration form is approved by the district Nodal officer then the new password will be sent on the registered mobile number of the Institute Nodal officer. In order to make the profile functional, the institute Nodal officer is required to login with a new password and follow the steps given below:-
Login: Now a login page will appear before you where you have to:
Select academic year
Enter password
Now enter the user ID
Enter captcha code
Click to login into the NSG profile
OTP: Now OTP will be sent to the institute Nodal officer’s registered mobile number. You are required to enter the OTP and click on confirm OTP
Reset Password: Now a new page will be open in front of you where you have to reset your password. After that, you are required to click on submit. Now you need to click on continue to login.
Update Profile: Now the institute Nodal officer is required to update the profile. For this purpose click on administration. After that click on update profile.
OTP: Now OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number. You are required to enter the OTP and click on confirm OTP.

Do’s For NSP Scholarship Form
Read the guidelines carefully: Applicants are required to read the guidelines of scholarship very carefully. The eligibility criteria, application guidelines, ineligibility etc are to be read very carefully in order to avoid any confusion in the next stage.
Deadline should be tracked carefully: The deadline of the scholarship has to be tracked very carefully. Applicants should keep in mind the last date of the application while planning to apply for any scholarship.
Documents to be kept handy: All the documents like identity proof, address proof, income proof, bank account details etc have to be kept handy before filling the application form. The application remains incomplete without all the required documents. The applicants are also advised to keep a soft copy of all the documents in their devices so that a hassle-free application process can be ensured.

Role Of Ministry Of Electronics And Information Technology
The ministry of Electronics and information technology is over all the owner of national scholarship portal
The ministry is also responsible for end to end processes of NSP
Ministry of Electronics and information technology is responsible for providing administrative approval for NSP to NIC
Other than that ministry is also responsible for providing input for value addition in NSP
MietY it is also responsible for monitoring and review of the NSP
Role Of Direct Benefit Transfer Mission, Cabinet Secretariat
DBT mission plays an important role in the administration of NSP
DBT is also responsible for overall coordination with all the scheme owner ministries, departments and other government bodies
DBT mission will also streamline the process and provide guidance to Ministry of Electronics and information technology and NIC from time to time
Review of standard operating procedures, guidelines, user manuals and other documents which are circulated with NSP users is also done by DBT mission
The designated officers from the mission is responsible for providing various approval for the important dates and deadlines of schemes which are onboarded on NSP
DBT mission is responsible for providing time-to-time guidance and suggestion for improvisation in NSP
Review of forms, reports, workflows etc for NSP is also done by DBT mission
DBT mission is also responsible for providing guidance and coordination for integration and data sharing with key bodies
Role Of National Informatics Centre
National informatics centre is a possible for developing and maintaining NSP
NIC is responsible to develop and maintain NSP infrastructure which includes software and hardware components
For operation of NSP helpdesk is managed by National informatics centre
Integration and data exchange with external applications is also managed by NIC
The security audit of NSP is also undertaken by NIC
Important processes like standard operating procedure, guidelines, user manual etc is also drafted and updated by NIC
The changes in NSP application as per the recommendations is done by National informatics centre
The configuration of scheme as per detail provided by key scheme owner is done by NIC

Role Of Helpdesk
The role of help desk is to provide first level assistance to the users of national scholarship portal
Helpdesk is also responsible in assisting the students for filling the registration application forms
Technical support is also provided through helpdesk
Helpdesk is also responsible for escalating the critical issues to National scholarship portal team as and when required
The list of users category wise frequently asked questions will be maintained by the helpdesk
Helpdesk will also keep the operators of call centre agency updated about the processes of national scholarship portal
Role Of Scheme Owner Ministries/Departments/Other Government Bodies
The scheme owner/ministry/department/other government bodies will be responsible for operating National scholarship portal for all activities
For answering the queries of any law enforcement agency or RTI related to Scheme The scheme owner/ministry/department/other government bodies are responsible
The scheme owner/ministry/department/other government bodies are required to abide by the IT act, Aadhaar act and all other government rules and regulations
The data and report concerning the schemes are required to be provided by The scheme owner/ministry/department/other government bodies to the government organisations
The scheme owner/ministry/department/other government bodies are required to store all the data of the portal

Institute Nodal Officer Registration Process
From the academic year 2019-20 those institutes who are logining in for the first time will have to fill the institute nodal officer registration form
The Nodal Officer is required to login on NSP by using the user credentials and complete the registration form by entering all the required details
After that identity document is to be uploaded by the Nodal Officer
Nodal Officer is required to lock the form and take print out of it
After that the Nodal Officer have to get it attested by the head of the institute
The form is required to be submitted physically to the respective district/state/ministry Nodal Officer
The district/state/ministry Nodal Officer will verify this form and details entered in the form
After that he or she is required to approve or reject the institute Nodal Officer registration form details on the portal by using the option verify Institute registration form
After approval the user credential and new password will be sent on the registered mobile number of the institute Nodal Officer
Duplicate copy of the application form will be shared with Institute Nodal Officer
Institute Nodal Officer can login on the portal by using user credentials
First Level Verification Process Of NSP
The correctness of details in the application form should be verified by the institute Nodal Officer
The documents uploaded by the students should also be verified by the institute Nodal Officer and Institute level officer is required to keep the copies of supporting document which is submitted by the student as the district/state/ministry Nodal Officer can ask for copies from the institute Nodal Officer from time to time
The institute Nodal Officer can verify the application, reject the application or defect the application
If the institute Nodal Officer rejected or defect the application the reason for rejection or defect must be provided so that it can be provided to the student
Defected application will be returned to the student for correction
Student is required to correct the mistakes and then submit the application
It is the responsibility of Institute Nodal Officer to make sure that all the appropriate due diligence is done with accordance to the scheme guidelines and internal processes
Institute Nodal Officer is also responsible for scrutinizing the applications well in time by the institute

When the ministry Nodal Officer create the user for state the login credentials for state nodal officers are created
The ministry Nodal Officer enters all the required details
After the entry of details in the system a unique username will be generated by the system and the username and password will be sent to the mobile number of the state Nodal Officer registered by the Ministry
When the state Nodal Officer create the user for district then the login credentials for district nodal officers are created
The state nodal officers enter all the required details
After the entry of details in the system a unique username will be generated by the system and the username and password will be sent on the registered mobile number of the district nodal officer registered by the state Nodal Officer
If there is change in district Nodal Officer then he or she shall approach the state Nodal Officer with the request to reset the password on change mobile number
If the state Nodal Officer is changed then the he or she can approach the ministry level Nodal Officer and request to reset the password and change mobile number

If there is any unauthorised activity on NSP the government can take legal action
NIC cannot directly answer any RTI related queries
The outcome of validation that are done by external agencies will be treated as final
Any grievance arising with such outcome will be dealt by the nodal verifying agency
